Revised 8/25/00

Some videos ordered for OSU are only available in the European format, PAL, and won't play on U.S. players. The university's Video Services Dept. can make a U.S. format video, NTSC, from the foreign video.

A PAL video may be identified at point of order or after the video arrives.
If the searcher knows at point of order that the video is in PAL and isn't available in NTSC, they ask the collection manager if they want a U.S. format video made after the foreign video arrives. The searcher puts a note in the PAL order record to create an NTSC format bib and order when the piece arrives.
If the PAL format is identified when the piece arrives, the collection manager contact and separate records steps are taken then.

When the PAL piece is received, it's referred to the supervisor (Mike Valinis). A note is added to the PAL order saying it is being referred for conversion. The NTSC bib and order records are created. The 100-W form is completed. Mike Valinis or Tschera Connell signs as authorized signature.

A 100-W form is completed (see attached sample).
