Some videos ordered for OSU are only available in the European format, PAL, and won't play on U.S. players. The university's Video Services Dept. can make a U.S. format video, NTSC, from the foreign video.
A PAL video may be identified at point of order or after the video arrives. When the PAL piece is received, it's referred to the supervisor (Mike Valinis). A note is added to the PAL order saying it is being referred for conversion. The NTSC bib and order records are created. The 100-W form is completed. Mike Valinis or Tschera Connell signs as authorized signature. A 100-W form is completed (see attached sample). Basic information needed as of August 2000:
ACQ delivers the PAL video and 100-W form to: These are the estimated common charges associated with conversion:
When the NTSC format video is ready, both videos are picked up. The NTSC video is received on its order record. The 100-w and Video Services invoice is referred to TSAA (Monograph Account Clerk) to post in Felix. Both format videos are sent for cataloging. The PAL video is labelled that it can't be played on U.S. players.
