1. I have appointed a small working group to investigate the changes we need to make to implement OCLC's new online metadata desktop as well as the MilCat product from III. Both are likely to result in changes in workflow and are bested assessed together so that changes can be implemented/considered together through that multiple transitions. The charge to the task force can be found at:

2. The Cataloging Dept has received approval for a 3 month overtime project to focus on specific projects. Last year, a 6 month overtime project created approximately 15,622 titles at a cost of less than $5 per title. While budgets are tight, the library still must move forward in particular to prepare the Main Library for renovation. Getting as many anayltics and retro titles finished is essential to our ability to locate materials in storage and while in transit during the renovation.
3. The first set of serial cancellation cuts has been submitted to SER. SER is working quickly to construct a combined set of spreadsheets which can be reviewed by each collection manager. This process is to ensure that titles in one discipline (but currently on another fund) are reviewed carefully before final decisions. After this round of review, collection managers will submit final spreadsheets. Then once budget decisions are made -- some level of cancellation will begin. Everyone -- collection managers, staff in technical services -- have worked diligently on this project and are to be commended.
