Setting the Communications Connection Using the Logon Guide
The 1st time you log onto OCLC through CatME using a particular machine, you’ll need to set up the communications connection before you can connect to OCLC. This information is stored on the hard drive (C:\) of each machine, while the authorization information itself is stored within each local file. CatME simplifies this process by including a logon guide. The screen prints that follow show you what you’ll see when you run this, and also indicate what you should do.
Click on "Yes" (see image below).
Click on "Next" (see image below).
Make sure "Internet" is indicated and then click "Next" (see image below).
Make sure the "Host Name" and the "Port Number" are as they appear here, then click "Next" (see image below).
Make sure the "Macro Book Name" appears as it is here ("CATME_Internet"), then click "Next" (see image below).
Make sure everything on your screen matches what appears above, then click "Next" (see image below).
You’re finished! Click on "Finish" (see image below).
You should now get your logon box:
Click "OK" to go ahead and log on to OCLC, or click "Cancel" if you don’t want to log on at this time.
NOTES:
The authorization number and password are stored in your local files (bib and/or authority), and should automatically be supplied. If these fields come up blank, go to "Tools/Local File Manager" and make sure you’ve got the correct file indicated as your default file (red check mark).
Leave the Authorization Mode set for "limited".
