I have just received the fixed fee pricing estimate for the Cataloging portion of the Ohionet account. The bad news: the expenses for FY03 will be approximately $31,500 more than in FY02. The good news: the increase continues to be offset in part by the increases in our ILL activities. In short, this pricing estimate reflects the expenses we incur during the course of using OCLC for cataloging as well as the credits we earn for activities such as original cataloging, database record enhancement, and deletion of holdings. Our credits for original cataloging, record enhancement etc. did increase this year a bit which offsets some of the cost increase. These are not the only OCLC/Ohionet costs (we also have other expenses such as ILL, telecommunications, TechPro) but this is one component of the funds we spend to provide bibliographic control of library materials. The details follow:
