Gift Books Processing
Gift Books will be processed in the following procedures:
I. Titles held in Location or Department Library:
- Rush books (defined as: (a) for reserve; (b) requested by a patron; or (c) for reference collection).
- Insert "Rush " streamer and location streamer in book.
- Insert LCS printout if title has an LCS record. Do both author/title and title search on LCS.
- Indicate "added vol. " or "dup" if so.
- Charge book to APD (CF611123) and write the date charged on the streamer.
- Send book to Automated Processing Department (APD).
- Non-Rush gift books. A quota of 100 titles per month for department libraries and 5 titles per month for Undergraduate Libraries has been established. The Head of Department Libraries will establish a quota schedule for department libraries, and each undergraduate library will alternate sending 5 titles per month.
- Insert a completed gift form (form 15506- formerly a Bindery Prep. slip) in each book.
- Insert a priority streamer and a location streamer in each title.
- Insert an LCS printout, if the title has an LCS record. Do both A/T and
Title search.
- Charge book to APD (CF611123) and write the date charged on the streamer.
- Send book to APD.
II. Titles selected from Review Shelves, Acquisition Department.
- Insert a "Rush" or "Priority" streamer when necessary, and location streamer in each title at time of selection.
- "Rush" titles will be sent directly to APD for rush processing.
- All other selected titles will be added to LCS with a control storage number reading XLOCll-----.
- Main Library Stacks Titles
- "Priority" titles will be charged and titles will be sent to APD.
- Remaining titles will be sent directly to Precat area.
- Titles selected for all other locations.
- "Priority" titles will be charged and titles will be sent to APD.
- Remaining titles with location streamers will be handled in normal processing workflow.
