Changes:
- The serials workform is now called the continuing resources workform.
- Editing marks no longer vanish after a record is saved.
- Text strings can be applied directly from the dialog box.
(without having to assign a keystroke or tool)
- Designated fields can be stripped from a batch export.
(Tools → Options → Export → Field Export Options)
- New characters and diacritics have been added: degree sign, copyright mark, phonogram copyright mark, musical sharp, inverted question and exclamation marks, eszett, Euro sign, left and right curly brackets, spacing circumflex, spacing underscore, spacing grave, and spacing tilde.
- Vernacular characters are now displayed in the batch search report (in 1.5 only romanized fields were listed). Also, it is now possible to add vernacular characters for Thai and Tamil language materials.
- Metadata can be automatically generated and entered into a workform simply by designating a path or URL.
[Cataloging → Create → Extract metadata]
- See: http://www.oclc.org/support/training/connexion/client/tutorial/default.htm
- Unformatted text can be pasted into a bibliographic or authority record. [Edit → Paste Unformatted]
-Useful for adding any text copied from a website (e.g. pasting content notes from a publisher’s website.
-Pasting text from Millenium into Connexion
-Can not be used to paste text into the search or browse dialog boxes
(Note: Although this does not solve character set discrepancies between Connexion and some Internet resources (e.g. "? or !" differences),
this function will eliminate formatting commands such as webpage design elements, tables and paragraphs).
Macro Resources:
While OCLC provides periodic enhancements to Connexion, Connexion users are continually finding ways to make the program more efficient. Generally the text for the macro program can be copied and then pasted in the macro editor [Tools → Macro manager → Edit]. No downloads are necessary. Simply highlight the text and then past it into the macro editor. The macro can be renamed after it is created.
(Note: the macro editor dialog box does not accept a mouse click paste. Instead, click the clip board symbol in the macro editor toolbar).
