Item Record: STATUS Code (I.2)
Fixed Field 21
Feb. 14, 2001
This code, which may be temporary or permanent, is one factor affecting whether or not a copy
of a title (a "piece") is ready to be borrowed or used in the library, or is no longer owned.
The code "p" is used from the time the piece is received (order or gift) until it arrives at it final
holding location. At the location, the status is changed to reflect general or restricted availability,
such as "- "(available to be borrowed) or "o" (use in library).
Subsequent situations may result in the status being changed to other codes such as "m"
(missing), "k" (being transferred), or "w" (withdrawn).
