Lin was promoted to LA2 during the month, so that was very good news for everyone. Andrea began training Nora to help her with Backstage Reports. LC is doing a few very large clean-up projects. Some of these projects consist of very simple changes—like taking the period out the 100 field. Reports are generated for all of these changes which means many more reports come to us. Nora is helping Andrea get through these reports by eliminating the pages that Andrea does not need to work on.
Indre and Jourdan continue to help with inventorying the problem shelf. Indre is also started to inventory Stephanie’s shelves to ensure that everything there says it is at Technical Services. Indre also helped Melanie with some database maintenance issues, like last copy withdrawals.
Amira finished up the last of the ELs and Ahs and started on a cart of short bibliographic records from Aaron O. These books were chosen by Dona and Aaron to be given full bibliographic records. If they are duplicates of books we already have, then they will go straight back to Aaron without being given a full record so time is not wasted on a book that will be removed in the near future.
Melanie, Rocki, Sherab and Christina spent time this month finishing up the movie. The movie did take a lot of time, but they felt it was worth the work and enjoyed working with the entire Department.
Melanie ran the Boolean discussed with Mary Ann from GOV DOCS. Melanie had Mary Ann look it over before updating the records. The system seems to work well and 1592 last copy withdrawals were processed without printing out a single record or taking up more than a few minutes of staff or student time.
Melanie attended the Cataloging Committee meeting on the 20th and the Tech Services Division meeting on the 13th. Melanie’s Freshman Seminar ends at the beginning of next month and she won’t be teaching until next fall at the earliest.

ad hoc committee for CAT Dept presentation: iMovie file corrupted and the film and photos had to be downloaded again. The group agreed that Christina Moore should try using Windows software that is already installed on our computers. The soundtrack and narrative were recorded at the Digital Union. All editing and compiling was done here in the dept. The video was presented to the Technical Services Division meeting on Nov. 13. It was well received.
ETD digitization, submission and retrocon: At Sally Rogers's request, submission of digitized ETDs will be moved over to CAT from the E-reserves office. E-reserves will still do the digitization and file preparation. Rocki will oversee CAT's portion of this program, and Jim Whitcomb will do most of the submission and retrocon cataloging. Jim and Rocki met with Linda Miller for an orientation and hands-on training.
ECIP: Jim Whitcomb and Rocki Strader received "training records" at the end of October, and in November practiced with the ECIP programs provided by LC. There were a few procedural
