Pinyin Documentation

INTRODUCTION

OSU will start using the Pinyin system for the romanization of Chinese language materials beginning in October, 2000. All Chinese records now in OSCAR, romanized with the Wade-Giles will be converted to Pinyin in January 2001. During the period between Oct. 2000-Jan. 2001, both romanizations will exist in OSCAR.

This training manual,  compiled from  Library of Congress documents, will be used to create and edit bibliographical records for Chinese language materials, and is  effective as of the 1st of October, 2000.  It will be used for library staff at OSUL.
