MIME, DANCE, and MOVEMENT COLLECTION
Many TRI collections have materials in dance, mime, and movement. In particular, in addition to designs for theatre, television, opera, and film, there are wonderful costume, scene, and lighting designs by many different designers in the TRI design holdings (see Design Collections). Major collections with dance, mime, and movement materials include:
ASSOCIATION OF THEATRE MOVEMENT EDUCATORS: Records of this organization which promotes the highest possible standards for theatre movement training and the application of those standards to educational and professional theatre. It also facilitates communication of the latest research, methods and career planning strategies amongst the communities of educators and practitioners.
DALCROZE SCHOOL OF MUSIC: Photographs, school records. music, instruments including Hilda Schuster materials.
DALCROZE SOCIETY OF AMERICA: Journals, photographs, correspondence, and music.
JOHN COLMAN COLLECTION: Music scores, manuscripts, and papers including Dalcroze and Blue Hill Troupe work of composer/music director Colman.
SANDRA L. HUGHES THEATRE COLLECTION: administrative materials, programs, notes, reviews, production and other materials documenting Hughes's work as director, choreographer, performer, and playwright.
CHARLES H. MCCAGHY COLLECTION OF EXOTIC DANCE FROM BURLESQUE TO CLUBS: The history of the popular culture of burlesque performances and nightclub life from exotic dance to stripping is highlighted in this collection of magazines, photographs, books, sound recordings.
MARCEL MARCEAU: The Marcel Marceau Collection contains videotape of teaching sessions, interviews, and performances; motion capture data of signature pieces; clippings, programs, souvenir programs, books by and about Marceau, the great French mime.
BEBE MILLER COLLECTION: Archives documenting the career of modern dance choreographer and OSU graduate Bebe Miller.
ROBERT POST COLLECTION: Clippings, photographs, correspondence, videotapes, posters and other materials from this Columbus-based actor/humorist.
RANDY SKINNER PAPERS: Annotated scripts, photographs, programs, correspondence, clippings and other materials from this director/choreographer/dancer.
ROBERT SLUSSER DANCE PHOTOGRAPHS: Performance photographs taken by Slusser during the 1950s of Kurt Jooss' The Green Table, several dances by Martha Graham, and other companies.
IRWIN SPECTOR PAPERS: Research materials for Spector's biography of Emile Jaques-Dalcroze as well as manuscripts of Spector's own musical compositions.
TWYLA THARP ARCHIVE: Company records, photographs, posters, programs, choreographic notes, personal papers, book and audio research materials, and videotapes of rehearsals and performances from one of the world's outstanding dancer/choreographers of the 20th century.
