Using the Portable Phone in SRI


Under some extreme circumstances, such as severe weather or illness, there may not be anyone available in SRI to answer the phone during the early business hours. In such a situation other staff in Tech Services may be asked to pick up incoming calls. The portable phones in SRI, located in Henry's office and the mailroom, will pick up from any point in the room, and may be taken to your desk. Use the “talk” button in the same way you would use the “flash” button on a single line phone:

To forward all calls to the portable phone: Using the main phone on the receptionist desk:

  • Press the “Call Fwd” button once (an arrow will flash)
  • Key in the phone # of the portable, 4-7551. Verify the accuracy of the number on the LCD display above the keypad.
  • Press the “Call Fwd” button again (arrow will stop flashing)

Answer a call: “Talk” button

Transfer a call: Press “talk” once before dialing the extension number. Remember to press “end” after transferring the call!

Retrieve caller: Press “talk” twice to pull the caller back.

Hang up: “ End” button
