TECHNICAL SERVICES/COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT
HIGHLIGHTS - August, 2002, MONTHLY REPORT
III E Resources Management System
In the last few weeks, we have agreed to partner with III in their development of their electronic resources management system. This new product is expected to provide a way with the structure of the III system to more effectively handle information related to electronic resources such as license terms, etc. Laura Tull and Trisha Davis will be our lead participants in this endeavor but will involve others as things develop.
Shelf-ready approvals
The Nov. 20, 10:00 to 11:30 Collection Managers' Forum will be devoted to the topic of shelf ready approvals. We will have two speakers at the Forum from Penn State. The topic for discussion will be shelf-ready approvals as well as the issue of whether to review or not to review. I would expect a lively discussion informed by the experiences with this process at Penn State. HEA also has experience with this process.
Cataloging Interfaces Working Group
The Cataloging Interfaces Working Group is near completion of their review of the OCLC Connexion service, III's MilCat and the issue of our participation in the Program for Cooperative Cataloging's BIBCO project. That report will be released shortly and will be an agenda topic for the next TS division meeting.
