Collections The primary collections news continues to be the budget. The Collections Advisory Council is meeting Jan.3 and Jan. 24 to review cancellations on the general funds for which I am responsible -- these are mostly interdisciplinary funds, electronic resources funds, and newspapers. In addition, as library science collection manager I will be making a presentation to the Faculty Meeting on Jan. 3 about proposed cancellations and proposed changes in policy such as routings. Finally, we have received the next set of information from OhioLINK on proposed cancellations. I am working with the CAC, regionals, HEA and Law as we make our decisions about which resources we must find a way to fund. The addition of new electronic resources is as a result almost non-existent. I am reluctant to add new obligations to our budget until we have better information on the level of cuts.
I expect to make a final decision and review that with TS dept heads and staff on the librarian position in early January. We will proceed from that point with internal recruitment. YBP will unveil many of its plans for a redeveloped GOBI at ALA Midwinter. I will try to be part of a focus group on that while attending the meeting.
