HIGHLIGHTS - SEPTEMBER 1999 MONTHLY REPORT
CORC -- the CORC participants at OSU have been divided into several working groups pairing a least one collection manager with several technical services staff. SER is working on guidelines and codes. We also have a couple of policy issues to resolve but progress is underway. Our focus is on cataloging web sites and these will be loaded into OSCAR for public display and use. An OCLC CORC participant's meeting will be held Nov. 3-4 and several of those participating will attend.
Interviews for the position Head, Special Collections Cataloging will be held on Oct. 11, 20 and 21st. We are very pleased with the quality of the candidates.
The job description for the entry level cataloger position in Cataloging has now been posted to the TS web site and to various listservs. We hope to have interviews before Thanksgiving.
The serials vendor industry is undergoing considerable consolidation. Swets and Blackwells are merging their serials operations. RoweCom has purchased Dawson's serials operations (formerly Faxon). We will be evaluating and monitoring this situation particularly as it relates to our FY01 subscriptions.
