The Technical Services Committee met four times in 2006.

Topics discussed by TSC in 2006 included:
- Features in III Millennium releases 2005 (installed at OSU in Feb.) and 2006 (installed at OSU in Aug.)
- Issues related to the replacement of the library catalog server in Sept.
- Implementation of new “My Record” capabilities in OSCAR for patrons and to allow a staff view of records from the Millennium OPAC
- Looking ahead to implementation of “coverage load” feature in III Electronic Resources Management (ERM) module
- Impact of implementation of the new 13-digit ISBN, including the need to move to a new standard (EDIFACT) for electronic ordering
- Impact of adding GOBI brief records and McNaughten Plan temporary records to OSCAR
- Impact of revamping of GOBI (coming in 2007)
- Parallel records in OCLC for cataloging in different languages
- E-analytics for government documents
- Development of new Technical Services documentation, including:
- E-book cataloging procedures (in progress)
- New location codes for e-scores and streaming audio
- Location code changes resulting from the move out of Main Library and plans for handling materials being processed by Technical Services and Preservation areas during the move
- Review and revision of Technical Services documentation including:
- item record maintenance using Millennium
- transfers to STX
- cataloging of items with accompanying materials
- volume identifiers list
- New developments in Technical Services including:
- Resource Description and Access (the code to replace AACR2)
- FAST, a research project examining the potential benefits of breaking LC subject headings into facets
- Library of Congress' decision to stop doing authority control on series headings and the implications of this decision on libraries and bibliographic utilities
- New coding practices for “integrating resources”
- Updates on the work of the OhioLINK Database Management and Standards Committee, including:
- Web standards for e-monographs, videos, ETDs, etc.
- Special programming for 856/956 fields in OhioLINK central
- Vendor neutral records for serials in OhioLINK central
- New strategic directions being undertaken by OhioLINK
- Marketing 101 for Libraries workshop
