TECHNICAL SERVICES ACCOUNTING AND ADMINISTRATION DEPT
MONTHLY REPORT -- January, 2001

Highlights of January, 2001

We hired a lot of new student employees in January; some for answering the central TS phone and some for accounting work. Deb, Lisa and Ellen spent time training them on various activities.

Deb and Lisa also spent time assisting new staff and students in CAT and SER with new network accounts and learning how to manage their e-mail, Felix, OCLC, etc.

Deb spent time assisting IT Dept with help requests from OSUL. There were problems getting Deb access to programs, so she was limited in what she could do. She worked with the special contract and fulltime tech staff to identify and try various fixes/improvements to the network service within TS.

Mary Stiffler, LMTA1, left us for a promotion in SER. In response, I put forward a proposal to adjust duties within TSAA. TS dept heads supported the proposal and it will go to the Executive Committee for consideration.

Lisa gave several CATme workshops for TS staff.

Ellen spent a lot of time with Linda Talmadge, new LMTA2 in the accounting unit (began 12/27/00). Linda is learning to process serial invoices.

Ellen had her first success with processing electronic invoices, handling the Blackwell and Swets versions in January.

We continued work with Administrative Services Dept on transferring responsibility for materials handling from TSAA to Pat Greene's staff. Lisa began extensive training of Pat's students so the quality and efficiency of the workflows into SER and MOD and out of room 038 will be maintained.

I worked with Laura Tull on a glitch we identified within Felix software. The procedure to change fund code 'multi' in an order record, which worked in October, won't work now. Laura has referred the problem to III.

TSAA supervisors turned in their self-evaluations by the end of January. TSAA evaluations are to be to the AD by Feb 28.
