Present:
The group reviewed centrally funded serials and databases, assigning funds as appropriate. CAC highly recommends that EDU serials be split into appropriate funds (EDU, PSY) by the end of this fiscal year (May) so that the changes can be made during rollover to be in effect for FY 06. OhioLINK titles will be reviewed at a later time to evaluate which general fund should be responsible for evaluating them on a continuing basis.
Mary Jo recommended that the over-all fund structure be reviewed at some point. This will be part of the review as discussed at the last Collections Managers’ Forum.
Trisha will update the spreadsheet with newly assigned funds and correct collection managers’ names. Collection managers will be asked to review spreadsheet and send feedback to Trisha for further consideration by CAC.
Marsha led the discussion on creating discipline-specific groups (“LOTS-like groups”) which could monitor such collection management issues as serials inflation, evaluation/cancellation of general titles within that subject cluster, information for and feedback to CAC, and projects relevant to the subject area. The structures of the groups could be flexible, varying with the needs of the discipline. These groups could serve as mentoring groups for new collection managers. Each group would have an open listserve. CAC members would serve as liaisons to the groups but would not necessarily be the convener(s) of the group:
Humanities – Marti, Geoff (Predrag)Following up on the recommendation at the Collection Managers Forum, CAC will create a subcommittee to review the literature on funding formulas used at other libraries for allocation of monograph funds. Graham and Jose offered to serve as CAC volunteers. Marsha will put out a call to LIBFAC for volunteers from the faculty at large to serve on the subcommittee. A charge will be forthcoming. At a future meeting additional subcommittees may be formed, e.g. mapping library funds to the university academic unit structure.
