- Local Practice Proposal (Magda El-Sherbini)
Using a well-prepared PowerPoint presentation, Magda presented the background of and arguments for those policies which could be abandoned in order to conform to national standards and to save staff time. TSC was in agreement with Magda’s proposal and recommended that we proceed to implementation.
- Serials Aggregators – Web List (Carol Diedrichs, Trisha Davis)
The OhioLINK task force investigation of methods to create a statewide list of e-journals within databases -- potential outsourcing entities (SerialsSolutions, TDNET) or possible in-house development -- did not conclude with any firm recommendations due to the budget situation. TSC agreed that it would be a good idea to move forward with a test of SerialsSolutions’ HTML product. Trisha will complete a proposal for Carol to present to CAC and the Executive Committee.
- Updating Bibliographic Records in OSCAR (Carol Diedrichs)
Access to the bibliographic Update function in OSCAR is a closely held authorization because of the possibility for incorrectly changing records in the database. Carol asked TSC to review a draft policy that discusses the context of the issue, the question of who can have access and the steps involved for granting access. Such a document would provide Nancy Helmick with a policy from which to respond to requests for this authorization. The Draft was approved and will be formalized into a Policy.
