PROPOSAL FROM THE COUNCIL ON ENROLLMENT AND STUDENT
PROGRESS TO EXTEND SELECTIVE ADMISSIONS TO ALL QUARTERS
WHEREAS Senate document 89-1 states that The Ohio State University selective admission policy adopted by the Board of Trustees for Autumn Quarters on June 11, 1986 will be extended to Winter and Summer Quarters for new first-quarter freshmen on the Columbus campus.
WHEREAS analysis has shown that new freshmen beginning the spring quarter have very low retention and graduation rates
WHEREAS the process of high school graduates waiting until the following spring quarter to begin their college work is inconsistent with successful learning and degree completion.
RESOLVED that document 89-1 be amended to indicate that The Ohio State University selective admission policy adopted by the Board of Trustees for Autumn Quarters on June 11, 1986 extends to all terms for new first-quarter freshmen on the Columbus Campus.
