PROCEDURE FOR EVALUATION OF ASSISTANT DIRECTORS AND STAFF OFFICERS

The Assistant Directors/Staff Officers will be evaluated on a rotating basis, with each individual evaluated at least once every four years. This evaluation will be conducted at a time that will provide input for their regular annual evaluations.

1. The Director's office will solicit comments regarding the performance of each AD or Staff Officer being evaluated that year. A general message will be sent to the Libraries' electronic mailing list, with individual messages/letters being sent to selected individuals within and external to the Libraries, as appropriate. The messages will specify a two-week turnaround time. All comments should be returned to the Director, and their receipt should be acknowledged.

2. A compilation of received comments covering positive performance, as well as areas for improvement--without attribution--will be provided to the individual being evaluated; a general summary will be provided to Libraries' personnel.

3. A schedule of evaluations will be developed, maintained, and monitored by the Planning and Policy Committee, making modifications in response to personnel/position changes.
