The 2nd lecture in the series
Creating Change: The Impact of Technology and Economics on Scholarly Communication

Nicholson Baker, a noted novelist, is the author of Double Fold: Libraries and the Assault on Paper (Random House, 2001). Baker is also the founder and director of the American Newspaper Repository, created "to preserve and make available to the scholarly public, and to future generations," newspapers as landmarks of American publishing. Located in Rollinsford, New Hampshire and founded in 1999 as a non-profit organization, the American Newspaper Repository preserves and archives a unique collection of original newspapers that would otherwise have been destroyed or dispersed.

For additional information on the American Newspaper Respository, visit www.oldpapers.org.
For a rebuttal of points made in Double Fold see Vandals in the Stacks? A Response to Nicholson Baker's Assault on Libraries.
