Minutes from the Diversity Meeting
March 13, 2007
The meeting began with Eleanor reviewing the old minutes, which were approved.
Joe Branin thanked us for updating our diversity web page and Resident Librarian Program information.
Eleanor has not heard back from Lexie Beer at the Multicultural Center.
Eleanor will have information in reference to the ReadAloud program.

ReadAloud program
The ReadAloud program will be Thursday, April 12th. Professor Joseph Zeidan has accepted the offer. The May 10th ReadAloud program will be cancelled.
Eleanor has not heard back from Lexie Beer at the Multicultural Center.
Somali program
Cyndi suggested that we contact the person who sponsored the Somali program. May will be a good month to present this program if we are able to make the proper contacts. Cyndi agreed to contact Danielle Smith to see if she is available to put on this program for us. The program should be scheduled for no longer than one hour. It was also suggested that the Diversity Committee contact Larry Allen to publicize the event. Cyndi will also see if Charles Smith still has a list of names to contact from the Somali community.
Resident Librarian
Linda, Deidra and Eboni met. They used a model job description from the University of Iowa. The focus will be on mentoring and professional development. Proposals are due in March; appointment(s) should begin Summer Quarter 2007. The Diversity Committee will be assisting with the interviews. By March 27th Linda, Deidra and Eboni will have a draft job description for review.
