Hawes of Maysville August 23rd 1844 purchased from her brothers John B. and Lowman Hawes all of their interest in a tract of land which was not deeded by their grandfather Major John Brown in July 30th 1832 to Lewis Collins, John M. Mayor John Brown, grandfather of John B. Hawes deeded land to Lewis Collins, John M. Morton and Richard Collins in trust for John B., Margaret R., and Lowman L (P) Hawes. Margaret bought John and Lowman's shares. She paid 1000 dollars to Lowman for his share to finance his education. She paid 500 dollars to John. Indenture created 23rd 1844. John B. (folded sheet small loose paper) Court appoints Robert Bell guardian to Mary Ann Peers, infant orphan of Benjamin Peers, who gave bond with Henry Duncan his security in penalty of 200 dollars according to the law along with Benjamin Peers, Anabella L. Peers, William A. Peers, Samuel M. Peers. All these children were under 14 years and deemed infants Letter stating that the estate of B. O. Peers is given to Lewis Collins. Ball asks for 300 dollars to go to Rev. B. J. Hwight in New York. If check can not be sent to him it will be given to George Washington Anderson. Address for Rev. Hwight is given. The contents are all documents relating to a claim Obadiah Ragsdale has on Valentine Peers in which Ragsdale wins. Valentine Peers and Alfred W. Grayson by virtue of a deed hold a tract of land given by Alex D. Orr. 18,000 acres -- 3,000 of which were sold to General Lee. Valentine Peers sold to Obadiah Ragsdale a piece of land within the survey of George Evans. The land is under doubtful title and A. D. Orr binds himself to pay Peers what Ragsdale demands. Orr binds himself with the penalty of 200 dollars. March 24th 1807. Agreement for Ragsdale.

(Folded Sheet) Valentine Peers executes to Robert Courtney a title Bond for 120 acres of land of his military warrant to 2666 and 2/3 acres in the state of Ohio. Children to be educated and Benjamin Peers to receive education at Hebe Carters expense. A piano to be bought out of resources for Susan Peers. Executor to determine extent of education of children.
