The Ohio State University Libraries purchased from Nelson Algren his personal papers and manuscripts in two lots, 1961 and
1965. These initial Algren archives were enriched, in 1982, by the acquisition of manuscripts, memorabilia, letters and library
owned by Nelson Algren at the time of his death in May 1981.
The Nelson Algren Papers were processed by Laura Pringle De La Vars in 1982-1984.
