Presents retrospective population figures for countries and major cities. The Population section includes vital statistics and international migration. Statistics are collected from official national and international sources. Also has retrospective population figures for districts and cities within a country. All three are excellent reference sources.

Covers GDP, industrial production, employment, production, age distribution, consumer prices, growth of earnings in manufacturing, income tax, commodity composition, exports and external trade.

Another publication covering OECD countries is Statistics of National Product and Expenditures 1938, and 1947-1955, Main Library Reference HC240.A1O77 1955 which includes statistics and also citations to original sources of statistics for those years.

Dictionary of Statistics (Mulhall) Main Library Reference HA46.M95 1892 (NA Internet)
Actually a compilation of statistics rather than a dictionary. Valuable for its coverage of dates in the Nineteenth Century. Published in Great Britain and covers statistics for European countries, U.S. and sometimes countries in other parts of the world. Statistics are arranged alphabetically by specific subject - accidents, age, crime, debt, drunkenness, eggs, fires, insane, etc. Also has broad as well as specific subjects. Statistics are retrospective and go back to the early 1800s and even the 1700s. For example, has German educational statistics for 1876. Has very detailed subject index with entries such as Scarlatina, Rothschild loans, robbery, serfs, etc. Unique for this period. Supplemented by New Dictionary of Statistics. (HA46.M954) which follows the same plan beginning after 1892.

Thirteenth Annual Report of the Commissioner of Labor, 1900. Main Library Reference HD8051.A1 
This valuable annual report, in two volumes, is a "compilation of wages in commercial countries from official sources." General tables give wage rates for 4,500 occupations from blacksmiths to weavers and glass wrappers in U.S. states and in foreign countries. Includes data from 100 foreign countries all over the world from Algeria to Venezuela. Gives lowest, highest, and average wage rates. Also includes list of U.S. and foreign sources from which data were compiled.

Covers national accounts, population, labor, GDP, expenditures, industry, government outlays, saving, profit shares, prices, wages, internal finance, foreign trade, reserves, and cyclical behavior of OECD economies.
