Reports presenting information on characteristics of the population of the United States including information on employment, school enrollment, marital status, migration, and income.

Pages vary. This series was initiated in June 1944 and discontinued in June 1947. The statistics in this series relating to general population characteristics are continued in Series P-20, Population Characteristics; the statistics relating to labor force characteristics are continued in Series P-50, Labor Force; and the statistics relating to consumer income are continued in Series P-60, Consumer Income.

Data are shown for the civilian noninstitutional population 14 to 24 years old attending school, by hours of attendance during the census week, by age and sex. A report presenting data on internal migration by characteristics of migrants and type of migration, for the United States. Data include a migration history of migrants 1945 to 1946, returning county of 1940 residence (within a state, between states), same period, returning to state, but not county, of 1940 residence; persons returning from abroad, 1945 to 1946, who went abroad, 1940 to 1945 (returning to state of 1940 residence to same county or different county, returning to different state). Data are shown for total return migrants, male veterans, and other civilians. Data are also included on the migration status of the civilian population and of male veterans, type of migration (within a state, between states); status of persons abroad, and of civilian population and male veterans in private households. Data for all normal families and families with female head, by labor force status of wife of head or of female head, by number of children under 6 years old and from 6 to 17 years old, and number of children under 10 years old are shown for the United States, February 1946. 6 pages.

A report presenting data on the precent distribution of families and individuals by income level for the United States, urban and rural, 1945 and 1944. The data are classified by age, sex, civilian occupation, civilian money earning level, civilian wage or salary level, and major occupation group. Median total money income of units of 1 person and of 2 or more related persons, after and before substitution for nonreporting, is shown by size of unit, urban and rural, 1944. 12 pages.

A report presenting estimates of the extent to which the income figures in report number 22, above, may vary as a result of sampling variations, as follows: sampling variability of percentages of selected sizes and medians presented in tables 1, 2, and 4, for 1945; and sampling variability of medians presented in table 5, for 1945. 3 pages.

P-S-23 Part-time workers in September 1946.
A report presenting data for the week of September 8-14, 1946, on persons in civilian labor force for the United States. Data are shown on the percent distribution by sex and veteran status, by industry, by class worker, and by occupation, of persons at work during week, by full-time or part-time status. Persons working part-time, who usually work 35 hours or more a week on their current jobs, are classified by reason for working less than their usual number of hours. Persons unemployed during period are classified by whether looking for full-time or part-time work, sex, and veteran status. Persons in civilian labor force during week are classified by whether in full-time or part-time labor force, work status, sex, and veteran status. 6 pages.

A report presenting data on the migration status of the civilian population of the United States, August 1945 to August 1946. Data are shown on: Migration of the civilian population 14 years old and over, by veteran status, sex, age, maritial status, employment status, and by agricultural and nonagricultural employment, specified months. Migration data for urban and rural, by veteran status and sex. Migration of the civilian population 18 to 44 years old, by marital status, veteran status, and sex. Percent of civilians 14 years old and over in August 1946, not in the armed forces on V-J Day, who were migrants within the United States or who moved from abroad, by age, sex, and marital status. 10 pages.
