Twelve series of projections are used, differing according to four sets assumptions about the trend of emigration. The methods and assumptions used to prepare the the projections are described. Because of the importance of emigration as a determinant of the future population of Germany and the Soviet Zone of Berlin, the report also provides a technique by which a person may prepare his own projections of the population of this area, by age and sex, incorporating whatever migration assumptions he wishes. 14 pages. | 1960, September |
| P91-12 | Population Estimates and Projections for Selected Countries 1960 to 1963 Population estimates and short-range projections for 73 countries and other areas which together had a population of about 2.7 billion persons at midyear 1961, or about nine-tenths of the world total. Most of the countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania, are represented in this report. Extensive statistical data are shown of the total region as well as for each country. For each year 1965-1985, the tables show data on: total population on January 1 and July 1; absolute numbers of births and deaths and birth and death rates; population by 5-year age groups and sex as of January 1; and numbers of persons in various functional age groups. Discussions of the methods and the assumptions used in the preparation of the projections are included. 63 pages. | 1965, September |
| P91-15 | Estimates and Projections of the Labor Force and Civilian Employment in the
U.S.S.R.: 1950-1975 This report presents data for four different manpower measures. At least one series of each measure is given for both the nonagricultural and agricultural sectors. The different measures are defined, the prime determinants of labor force participation are assessed, and the methods used in deriving the detailed data are discussed. Data are presented on estimates and projections of the population, labor force, and civilian employment, by such characteristics as age, sex, urban-rural residence, and by sector and class of worker, for selected years, 1950 to 1975. 43 pages. | 1967, June |
| P91-16 | Estimates and Projections of Educational Attainment in the U.S.S.R.: 1950-1985 This report presents estimates and projections of educational attainment for the period 1950-1985, both for the population 10 years old and over and for the population 16 years old and over. The report discusses the significant results of the projections, provides a brief description of the institutional framework and varies qualitative factors which affect attainment, and gives a detailed description of the assumptions and methods used in preparing the estimates and projections. 26 pages. | 1967, December |

The demographic estimates and projections for Mainland China presented in this report are of necessity subject to certain limitations. In order to correctly interpret and apply these estimates and projections, this report discusses the significance of population in China's economic and political development, the nature of the demographic evidence available, basic assumptions and methods employed in constructing the demographic models, some implications of the momentous changes that have occurred in China since these models were constructed, some of the more important demographic trends and relationships shown in the figures, and specific suggestions as to how the figures should or should not be used. 77 pages. | 1968, August |
