Current Population Reports P-90 Series
A series of reports presenting the results of studies made by the Bureau of the Census of the demographic, economic, and manpower characteristics of foreign countries and of the statistical systems that provide data on these characteristics. Data for a specific country in series P-20 may be complemented, supplemented, or superseded by later reports in the series and/or by reports in Series P-91, International Population Reports. Reference should be made to both series for data concerning the specified country.

This report examines the collection of employment data at the establishment level, traces the flow of data up to the final state of the preparation of the national labor accounts, and interprets methodologically some of the better known and important employment statistics which have been published in Soviet statistical handbooks. | P90-17 | The Soviet Statistical System: Labor Force Recordkeeping and Reporting Since 1957 A supplement to report No. 12, Series P-90 (above). This report summarizes information available as of March 1, 1962, and deals with the impact of the Soviet administrative reorganization of mid-1957 on the structure and operations of Soviet statistical agencies concerned with collecting and reporting labor force data. It describes the changes in labor force reporting practices and the increased role of the Central Statistical Administration (TsSU) in the receipt, processing, and transmission of statistical information to other government agencies. Wherever appropriate, page references to the earlier report are given. The present report also contains a significant expansion of certain topics, such as the special employment surveys conducted by TsSU. A greater amount of attention is devoted to the employment reports of nonindustrial branches of the national economy and their use in developing summary employment statistics. The status of mechanization of data-processing facilities in the Soviet Union is also discussed. 105 pages | 1962 |

| P90-19 | The Soviet Mineral-Fuels Industries, 1928-1958 A report in a series of studies of Soviet manpower which presents in as comprehensive and comparable form as possible, all of the major statistical series bearing on the mineral-fuels industries of the Soviet Union for the period 1928-1958. This report provides a limited interpretation of the materials and summarizes data available as of January 1, 1961. The report deals, for specified years 1928-1958, with the growth of Soviet mineral-fuels production; comparative trends (Soviet Union and the United States) in output and productivity; and trends, patterns, and projections of the output and consumption of inanimate energy, such as coal and lignite, petroleum, natural gas, etc., in the Soviet Union and the United States. Particular attention is given to data recording and reporting practices, and detailed information is presented on terminology, accounting categories and classifications, forms and schedules, recording and reporting requirements, and data processing facilities at various stages in the chain of command. The system of data control, including verification and auditing, is briefly examined.
