A large farmhouse in Shirakawa-mura, a reconstructed farm village in the mountains west of Tokyo. These large multi-story houses would contain several generations of the same family, with each generation on a separate floor (or some similar arrangement). Although this mura is partly a museum, it carried on traditional pursuits.
