The William S. Burroughs Collection
A Guide and Inventory
Spec.rare.cms.129

Guide Compiled by Ben Valentine and John M. Bennett, 2003-2004

INTRODUCTION

This collection consists of materials from William S. Burroughs’ archive covering approximately the years 1971-1987. Among the highlights are manuscripts, notes and other material for his novel "The Western Lands"; photographs; correspondence received by Burroughs and James Grauerholz, with some of their replies; publications received; clippings and articles regarding Burroughs; files regarding readings and appearances by Burroughs; publications by Burroughs; science fiction and other books probably read by Burroughs; and much other material. Please consult the other William S. Burroughs collections at OSU for additional information and materials.

This guide was originally compiled in 2003-2004; the presence of several folders and boxes that “don’t exist” reflects materials held back by the Estate of William S. Burroughs until a future time. This collection was donated to The OSU Libraries in December 2007.
