PLT

Program Philosophy

The core mission of the Peer Library Tutor program is to establish student-to-student learning communities in the University Libraries to advance learning, teaching, research, scholarship, and creative expression.

What Is A Peer Library Tutor (PLT)
Peer Library Tutors are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students who are trained and mentored by librarians. PLTs help library users explore, discover and make effective use of library resources and information and multimedia systems and technologies.

The Peer Library Tutor program provides highly-motivated students with meaningful and rewarding work experience in the OSU Libraries. This work directly enhances personal and professional learning and skills that are important for career development. PLTs are paid student employees of the University Libraries and are partnered with and mentored by a subject specialist librarian. The PLT program hires students who want to develop leadership, communication, teaching, and multimedia skills. PLTs participate in team building, but individually each is expected to demonstrate advanced learning and skill development in the program.
