Find three scholarly journals in your area of expertise, journals you may wish to submit articles in the future. Select a recent issue and locate the directions to contributors page. Does this journal require the use of a specific style manual?
Each entry in your assignment should include the following:
- Name of journal (in italics).
- Volume number and date
- Page number of the directions to contributors information
- Quote the style manual information presented on this page, or state “no style guide information included.”
Lastly, read at least one article from one of these three journals and practice writing your first journal article citation and annotation. Your citation must follow Chicago Manual of Style 15th ed. (chapter 17) or Turabian, A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 7th edition. Your annotation should be based on the guide mounted on our class web site, "Writing Abstracts," from RILM Abstracts of Music Literature.
