Open meetings are scheduled for May 21st (4:30 p.m.) and 22nd (9:30 a.m.) in Main Library room 210. Although these meetings are open to anyone, they are being provided primarily to hear from University faculty, staff and students campus-wide. The Libraries' faculty and staff will have ample opportunity for input into the designing of the renovated Main Library beginning in June, when the programming phase of the renovation begins in earnest with the architectural staffs from Graham Gund and George Acock. If you saw the previous announcement about the Open Meetings and were planning to attend, please be advised that non-Libraries faculty, staff, and students are the primary audience at this time. Computer Workshop Training Opportunities Did you know that the OSU Libraries pays for attendance at Computer Workshop (Dublin) sessions in advance? A number of opportunities are still available for library employees to attend a needed workshop; don't let the bleak budget outlook deter you from seeking the training that you need. Check our calendar to see whether that workshop you want will be offered this month, secure the permission of your supervisor, and then sign up through Betty Sawyers (sawyers.1@osu.edu; 2-4491). The Computer Workshop offers a wide variety of classes; only those of more general application--e.g., Word, Excel, Access, HTML, and PowerPoint--are routinely shown on the calendars. If you are interested in another software application, please contact Betty to see if it is included in their offerings. The awardees were the Moritz College of Law's Black Law Students Association; Dr. Henry Fischbach, College of Dentistry; James L. Nichols, Office of Business and Finance; Patience E. Whitworth, student, Fisher College of Business; and Marianne C. Rekhop, Program Manager-education for Women and Infants Nursing Administration, and Mother-Baby Unit at University Hospitals.

Cyndi regularly works on University-related projects beyond her department, and encourages Libraries faculty and staff to do the same. She represents us well. In order to comply with University procedures, employees who are applying for listed vacancies must complete a Promotion/Transfer Request (form 8931, Rev 9/97) during the week of the first listing of the vacancy in the University Personnel Posting (green sheet). To ensure awareness of all vacancies which have been posted, applicants should consult the weekly green sheet rather than relying on the listing in NEWS NOTES Online and are encouraged to attach a resume and/or other supporting documents to the form. Prospective faculty and staff applicants who are absent during the five-day posting period and wish to apply should see Toni Morrison-Smith (morrison-smith.1@osu.edu) Library personnel may also review University employment opportunities at http://www.ohr.ohio-state.edu/index.htm |
