How to Apply

When a new competition is announced, instructors should submit:

  • An application form [Word document]
  • A current course syllabus
  • Applicants who are not faculty members (i.e. teaching assistants, lecturers, etc.) should also provide a letter of support from their supervisor or department chair, including an assurance that they will be able to teach the course for which they receive the grant.

Send all documents as e-mail attachments to: ohanlon.1@osu.edu.

How to Locate a Librarian Collaborator

Subject librarians are listed at http://library.osu.edu/sites/collections/

Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • The introduction of library materials and services will enhance the success of the course.
  • New or innovative use of library materials, a variety of formats, or information literacy instruction is included.
  • Potential for broad impact on students is possible. This might be indicated by high enrollment, pre-requisite status, frequent offering, multiple sections, discussion of how course material will be shared with colleagues, etc.
  • The proposal shows evidence of collaboration with a librarian.
  • Applicant is familiar with or willing to learn how to use appropriate technologies identified in the proposal.

Some preference may be given to instructors who have not previously received a course enhancement grant but previous recipients are still eligible to apply for a grant for a different course.
