How to Apply

When a new competition is announced, instructors should submit:

  • A current course syllabus
  • A cover letter which describes your plans for course enhancement, what you hope to accomplish (including the impact you expect your enhancements to make), and the name of the librarian with whom you have consulted.
  • Applicants who are not faculty members (i.e. teaching assistants, lecturers, etc.) should also provide a letter of support from their supervisor or department chair, including an assurance that they will be able to teach the course for which they receive the grant.

Send all documents as e-mail attachments to: ohanlon.1@osu.edu.

How to Locate a Librarian Collaborator

Librarian subject specialists are listed at http://library.osu.edu/sites/collections/

Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • The course objectives and activities lend themselves well to the inclusion of library content.
  • The proposal shows evidence of collaboration with a librarian.
  • There is evidence of familiarity with or willingness to learn how to use appropriate technologies by the applicant.
  • The introduction of library materials and services will enhance the nature of the course.
  • Innovative use of library materials or use of a variety of formats is possible or evident.

Some preference may be given to instructors who have not previously received a course enhancement grant but previous recipients are still eligible to apply for a grant for a different course.
