        •  Classes and individual instruction (non-credit) in the use of:
                •  research resources for Latin American studies;
                •  and library materials in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Galician, Catalan, Italian, and French.

OSU College of Arts and Sciences:
       
•  A&S 138 (one credit), Hitchiker's Guide to the Information Highway, freshman seminar offered autumn quarter.

OSU Spanish and Portuguese Department:
       
•  PORT 330 (five credits), Introduction to Brazilian Culture (GEC) offered winter quarter each year
        •  PORT 693 and 893 (varying credit), reading and independent study courses, available any quarter.*

OSU History Department (graduate faculty-M):
       
•  HIST 791 (varying credit), reading and independent study courses on Brazilian history, especially modern political and cultural aspects, available any quarter.*

Center for Latin American Studies, Ohio University-Athens:
       
•  INST 525 (five credits), Development of Modern Brazil (graduate seminar), offered first summer session each year.
* Please note that reading or independent study courses consist of:
        1) regular meetings between instructor and student,
        2) assigned readings, and
        3) a term paper. 
The meeting schedule together with the selection of readings and of the term paper topic are determined by mutual agreement between the instructor and student.  The number of credits awarded is determined by the amount of work concluded.
