~ Audio books in Portuguese of Brazilian literary classics (Bom Crioulo, O Cortiço, Dom Casmurro, Ubirajara) are available at: http://www.bibvirt.futuro.usp.br/sons/livros_falados/por_titulo.

~ There are two full~text retrieval databases that one might not immediately identify with Brazilian Studies.  However, both can provide quite useful historical visual and textual materials.  They are Early English Books Online, which includes the first book printed in English in 1475 and extends through 1700; and Eighteenth Century Collections Online, which includes all significant English and foreign language (Latin, French, Spanish, Italian, etc)  titles during the eighteenth century (1701 to 1800) printed in Great Britain (Act of Union 1707).  Particularly important in these databases, comprising tens of thousands of imprints, are their travel, voyaging, and geographical accounts together with memoir, letter, and news references.  Both fiction and non~fiction are included together with illustrations.  If you enter a search for "Brazil" (or any other locale), you come upon a fascinating array of texts.  (Note: be sure to examine the keyword or indexing lists for spelling variations.)
