WHAT DOES THE POLITICAL SCIENCE ACQUISITIONS LIST INCLUDE?

The acquisitions lists provided at this web site include resources acquired by the Ohio State University Libraries by the Collection Manager for Political Science. Some of the books purchased by other collection managers in the library are also included. This includes many but not all of the related books purchased by librarians in Business, Classics, Latin American Studies, Asian Studies, Slavic & East European Studies, Women's Studies, Jewish Studies, Middle East Studies, and African-American and African Studies. Librarians responsible for these specific subjects may produce a list of acquisitions that include all of their purchases. Slavic and non-western language books are not included in this list.

Books, periodicals, and other resources are acquired in the following ways:

Individual Orders: Most orders are placed for new books from vendors’ online order databases by collection managers for political science or related subject areas.    The library will select previously published items from a variety of sources, including catalogs and webs sites for second hand book stores.  Additional material is purchased in microform and electronic formats.   The library welcomes order requests from faculty and students.  To request a title that you do not find in the library catalog, send your request via email to the collection manager for political science at lincove.1@osu.edu.

Approval Plan: Many books enter the library in accordance with contracts made with foreign language vendors which distribute books for various publishers. The library receives books which fit a subject profile for the various areas of political science.

Gifts:  The library welcomes gifts to the collection.  To find out how to make a gift to the library, contact the collection manager for political science or the Friends of the Library at (614) 292-3387.
