WHAT DOES THE
PHILOSOPHY ACQUISITIONS LIST INCLUDE?
The acquisitions lists provided at this web site include resources acquired by the Ohio State University Libraries by the Collection Manager for Philosophy. Books, periodicals, and other resources are acquired in the following ways:
Individual Orders: Most orders are placed for new books from vendors’ online order databases. Previously published items from a variety of sources, including catalogs and webs sites for second hand book stores. Additional material is purchased in microform and electronic formats. The library welcomes order requests from faculty and students. To request a philosophy title that you do not find in the library catalog, send your request via email to the collection manager for philosophy at lincove.1@osu.edu.
Approval Plan: Many books enter the library in accordance with contracts made with foreign language vendors which distribute books for various publishers. The library receives books which fit a subject profile for the various areas of philosophy.
Gifts: The library welcomes gifts to the collection. To find out how to make a gift to the library, contact the collection manager for philosophy or the Friends of the Library at (614) 292-3387.
