EROS Earth Observing System Data Gateway

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration)
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
Search for and order earth science data products from NASA and affiliated centers.

Geospatial data availability

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
Interactive status map.

Pacific Seafloor Mapping Project

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
This project uses state-of-the-art digital multibeam systems to systematically map the sea floor. The two types of data collected include bathymetry (sea-floor depth) and backscatter (data that can provide insight into the geologic makeup of the sea floor). Includes the US west coast, Gulf of Mexico and Lake Michigan. Site includes Fly-By-Movies, images, data, links to full text publications, and applications.

US GeoData

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration)
The EDC houses a variety of USGS digital cartographic data products collectively referred to as US GeoData. The EDC's archives also hold the world's largest collection of civilian remotely sensed data covering the Earth's land masses, housing millions of satellite images and aerial photographs.

Water Resources of the United States

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)

National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI)

The goal of this Infrastructure is to reduce duplication of effort among agencies, improve quality and reduce costs related to geographic information, to make geographic data more accessible to the public, to increase the benefits of using available data, and to establish key partnerships with states, counties, cities, tribal nations, academia and the private sector to increase data availability.

Better Assessment Science Integrating Point and Nonpoint Sources (BASINS)

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's water programs and their counterparts in states and pollution control  agencies are increasingly emphasizing watershed and water quality-based assessment and integrated analysis of point and nonpoint sources. Better Assessment Science Integrating Point and Nonpoint Sources (BASINS) is a system developed to meet the needs of such agencies. It integrates a geographic information system (GIS), national watershed data, and state-of-the-art environmental assessment and modeling tools into one convenient package.

Cornell's Digital Earth Metadata Pages

Geographic Data; Geologic Data; Geophysical Data; Image/Grid Data from around the world is cataloged and the catalog records are searchable.

EPA Information: Databases and Software

EnviroFacts Geodata Web Services

Envirofacts Warehouse

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) created the Envirofacts Warehouse to provide the public with direct access to the wealth of information contained in its databases. The Envirofacts Warehouse allows you to retrieve environmental information from EPA databases on Air, Chemicals, Facility Information, Grants/Funding, Hazardous Waste, Risk Management Plans, Superfund, Toxic Releases, and Water Permits, Drinking Water, Drinking Water Contaminant Occurrence, and Drinking Water Microbial and Disinfection Byproduct Information (Information Collection Rule [ICR]). You may retrieve information from several databases at once, or from one database at a time. Online queries allow you to retrieve data from these sources and create reports, or you may generate maps of environmental information by selecting from several mapping applications available through EPA's Maps On Demand.

GIS: City of Columbus

A website from the City of Columbus. Contains all the data needed to create GIS maps of Columbus. It is free to use, but registration is needed.

GeoCommunicator

GeoCommunicator is the publication site for the Bureau of Land Management's National Integrated Land System (NILS). GeoCommunicator provides searching, accessing and dynamic mapping of data for federal land stewardship, land and mineral use records, and land survey information. GeoCommunicator provides spatial display for land and mineral cases from BLM's LR2000 system.

Geographic Information Management Systems (GIMS)

Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR)
The GIMS web pages contains information related to digital geographic data and the Geographic Information Management Systems Program. There is a searchable database of the information available.

Geographic Information Systems Service Center

GISSC is focused on the effective and efficient use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies throughout the state of Ohio. OGRIP (Ohio Geographically Referenced Information Program) serves as the primary coordinating body for spatial and geographic information initiatives between federal, state, regional and local governments.

Geospatial One Stop

NOAA Environmental Services Data Directory

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
The NOAA Environmental Services Data Directory is a forms-based tool that allows users to search for publicly available environmental data held by public and private sources throughout the world. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Environmental Information Services division provides this service in partial fulfillment of NOAA's responsibility to archive and document environmental data. Data sources include descriptions related to climatology, meteorology, ecology, pollution, geology, oceanography, and remote sensing satellites. The wide variety of data and data sources described in the NOAA Environmental Services Data Directory makes it a valuable multidisciplinary research tool for the scientist, the educator, researcher, or any member of the general public.

National Geophysical Data Center

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
NGDC provides scientific stewardship, products and services for geophysical data describing the solid earth, marine, and solar-terrestrial environment, as well as earth observations from space.

National Map

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
This USGS site is a general map of the nation that is interactive.

Ohio Metadata Explorer

Metadata Explorer is your tool for searching and browsing the contents of a metadata service—a central repository for metadata. Search by geographic extent, content type, content theme or keyword, or browse through all of the available metadata documents. Use the metadata you find to decide whether the data it describes fits your needs.

Ohioview

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration)
OhioView is a consortium of state universities, the USGS EROS Data Center, the NASA Glenn Research Center, OhioLINK, The Ohio Supercomputer Center, OARnet, and NREN whose mission is to promote the low-cost distribution of US Government civilian satellite data for public use.

The GIS Data Depot®

The largest FREE geo-spatial data repository on the web! The GIS Data Depot houses data in support of the GIS industry. The majority of the data provided has been downloaded from a wide range of GIS Web sites located on the Internet.

USDA National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Data Resources Web site

NRCS distributes Natural Resources Inventory, Plants, and Soils data to the general public.

World Data Center System

The World Data Center system works to guarantee access to solar, geophysical and related environmental data. It serves the whole scientific community by assembling, scrutinizing, organizing and disseminating data and information.
