Major Sets of Original Texts: Microform and Online

A. MICROFILM

English Short Title Catalogue [ESTC]

Contains records for works printed in any language in England or its dependencies from the beginning of printing through the end of the eighteenth century, as well as works printed in English anywhere else in the world. All recorded English monographs printed between 1475 and 1700 are represented in the database, as are 80% of the recorded serials titles for the period 1620-1800. The ESTC serves as a comprehensive bibliography of the hand-press era and as a census of surviving copies. There are currently 468,445 records in the database as of 08/04.
