Requesting Materials from the Depository
The Book Depository houses lesser-used materials from the library collections on campus. It is not open to the public; materials can be requested by OSU and Ohiolink patrons at any circulation desk on campus, or requests for materials with the location OSU Book Depository can be placed directly on-line through OSCAR by library users. Staff will pull materials from the collection in the Depository and deliver the item(s) to the pickup location designated by the requesting individual.
Materials with location codes on OSCAR designating specific Remote Depositroy locations are considered to be special collection materials and requests for these items must be placed by the patron through the appropriate special collection library. A staff member from the special collection library will contact the Depository directly, and the item will be delivered via Depository courier to the special collection area. This material must be used in-house during the hours that the special collection library is staffed.
Library patrons may page material from the Depository as they would from any other OSU Library location. The quickest way to receive an item is to designate the Ackerman Library, Sullivant Library or Science & Engineering Library as the pick-up location for the book. In most cases, the book arrives at one of these designated locations on the same day that it was requested. Evening requests placed after 6:30 pm are processed and delivered the following morning at the scheduled delivery times. Holiday requests are processed the morning of the first workday after the holiday.
Local library patrons may also request that Depository material be sent via campus mail to a campus office or may designate that another library be assigned as the pick-up location for the requested item. In these cases, actual delivery of the material depends on the schedule of the campus courier service.
The Library Book Depository is normally staffed
- Monday through Friday: 8:00am to 9:00pm
- Saturday 9:00am to 6:00pm
- Sunday 12:00pm to 9:00pm
Operating hours are reduced during the quarter break periods to Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The Depository is closed on all university observed holidays.
