Meeting Summary
July 10, 2003

- Bracken introduced Shannon Tippie for a discussion of stewardship as regards endowments. It was proposed that letters be sent to living endowers in the Fall by the Development Office. Information will be gathered from collection managers. Bracken will provide names of collection managers to Shannon. It was also noted that background documentation of specific endowments will be useful to collection managers.
- CIC/CIRM Updates: the question was raised whether all updates from these groups should be forwarded to the collection managers’ list-serve or are they already received through other channels. Updates from Spernoga will be forwarded. OSUL is currently working on setting up online access to the various journals in the CIC – Project Euclid (mathematics & statistics journals)
- A discussion re the merits of two projects submitted to the Digital Initiatives Steering Committee ensued. Responses were favorable to both. Bracken will respond in detail to the Digital Committee.
- Member should submit agenda items as the need occurs. Possible agenda items for the future include (a) Electronic sources to eliminate print resources (b)Retention of print copies when electronic archives are available (c) CIRM – OhioLINK Collections Building Taskforce – duplication of holdings, etc.
- It was noted that the chair needed to reconcile pre-1900 imprints – draft and 1800-1899 imprints – policy as soon as possible.
- The August meeting has been cancelled. The next CAC meeting will be September 11th.
