1993-1996 Head, Monographic Cataloging, Ohio State University Libraries. Responsible for Supervising four professional librarians, two Graduate Assistants, one Administrative Assistant and three student assistants. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing of training of new members and responsible for the general operation of the Monographic Cataloging Section.

Member of the Cataloging Department Management Team (1994-1995). In conjunction with the five other team members, responsible for managing the ongoing operation of the Department, which includes setting priorities, allocating department resources, solving interdepartmental problems, serving as the department advocate and spokesperson, hiring, training and mentoring of all department members. Chair of the Cataloging Policy Board (CBP) and the Cataloging Policy Advisory Committee (CPAC).
1996-present Head, Cataloging Department, Ohio State University Libraries.
  • Manage all activities related to cataloging and classification at the OSU Main Library. Directly supervise four section coordinators and indirectly, the work of 16 Classified Civil Service staff, 7 graduate assistants and numerous student workers.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the department in the areas of original cataloging, complex copy cataloging, maintenance, authority, backlogs, retrospective conversion, and contract cataloging.
  • Formulating Cataloging Department policies and priorities and setting of department goals and objectives.
  • Review department policies and workflow for effectiveness and productivity, facilitate changes and provide for smooth transition as the department makes changes in policies as part of its ongoing focus on serving users' needs.
  • Stimulate innovation and creativity and plan for faculty/staff training and development. Coordinate cataloging activities with the activities of other library units, including Technical Services Departments, Bindery Preparation and Collection Maintenance, Automation and Public Services.
  • In addition to this I work closely with and provide support for Technical Services Department and departmental libraries at the Columbus campus and regional campus libraries.
  • Participate in library management through my work on a variety of committees, including the Administrative Staff Conference Represent the University Libraries in local, state, regional, and national professional associations and participate in state, regional and national cooperative endeavors.
  • Work with vendors to develop contract cataloging for outsourcing services, such as Arabic, Slavic, CJK, and Hebrew contract cataloging, Slavic cataloging with University of Kansas, and processing of bibliographic records for authority control processing.
