New books for the BSL collection are received continually and are listed monthly on this web site. We keep each month's list for one year until it's replaced by a new list for that month. (Listings prior to January 2002 are no longer available.)
Bibliographies
BSL has a variety of topical bibliographies designed to assist our patrons and students in finding basic starting point reference materials to aid with their research. These are available on-line, and in paper form in the Black Studies Library reading room.
BSL Reference Resources
Reference resources in BSL are located in the northwest section of room 240 on the low shelves. Our Reference Collection provides resources on a variety of subjects concerning Africa and the African Diaspora (including African America).

Serials, Journals, Periodicals & Newspapers
New and current serials, journals, periodicals and newspapers are found in the three most
northerly rows of the low shelves of the BSL Reference section in the Northwest of Room 240.
Older, bound serials, journals and periodicals are located on the high shelves just across the isle from the current serials in the north end of the BSL Book Collection Area.
Current issues of newspapers are only kept for six months.
All serials, journals and periodicals are arranged alphabetically by title, and are non-circulating.
Also available, are resources for reviewing historical and contemporary African American newspaper articles.
