Commencement Speakers ~ The Ohio State University Archives

THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTS

COMMENCEMENT SPEAKERS AND LOCATIONS

The Ohio State University held its first commencement on the 19th of June, 1878 at the University Hall Chapel, where Edward Orton, OSU President, addressed the graduates and their family, and friends. Commencement was held annually in June until 1923 when it held three times, and in 1924 it began to be held quarterly, a practice that continues to this day.

Several places have had the honor of hosting Commencement:
