CENTENNIAL PHOTO GALLERY

To take further our mission of preserving the University’s official memory, the OSU Photo Archives has created online access to the photographs in The First Hundred Years, the Centennial Collection. This Collection is a unique sampling of photographs, ranging from the years 1870 to 1970, selected with the purpose of representing the ever changing face of The Ohio State University.  The first 100 images tell a rich visual history through captured moments of campus activities, scenic views, notable figures, and the student body.  The following collection celebrating our Centennial is a rare look back in time.  The first 100 years inspired this collection, but we have chosen to expand it by adding a few images from the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s in order to show the impressive growth and ongoing changes to The Ohio State University.  Please note the conditions of use and gallery navigation instructions below prior to viewing the photos.

The photographs on this website are presented for use in research, teaching and private study. For these purposes, you may reproduce (print, make photocopies, or download) photographs from this site without further permission on the condition that you provide the following attribution of the source on all copies:

The University Photo Archives is open for research use by the public at the Ohio State University Archives Building, 2700 Kenny Road, Columbus, Ohio 43210. Research hours are from 9am to 12 noon and 1pm to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Researchers are advised to contact the Photo Archives prior to using the collection.

Navigating the Image Galleries

The image gallery is in a "slide show" style format and can be advanced using the arrows.  To select a particular image, choose the image of interest from the film strip that appears on the bottom of the page.  (Please note: Gallery will open in new page.  You must open the page fully in order to view all of the photos.)
