ARTIFACTS COLLECTION SUBGROUP: DESKTOP ITEMS CATEGORY SCOPE & CONTENT The Desktop Items Category consists of eighty-four artifacts arranged into the sub-categories of Annie Glenn, Corporate, Military, NASA, Post-Senate and Senate. The category contains an assortment of clocks, paperweights, ashtrays, pens, letter openers, flags sets, and other types of small items normally designed for use on an office desk. Most of these artifacts, presented to or acquired by John Glenn from 1961 to 2003, commemorate an event, policy issue or entity of special interest to Glenn. As noted in the item listing, many of these small artifacts were once used or displayed in Glenn’s Senate office. Also included in this category are three nameplates used by Senator Glenn in the 1980s and 1990s during hearings of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee. |
