There are small notations of a word or two and some underlining found throughout this book. All are in much different handwriting than the family history notes, and are the types of notes one might make while reading a textbook.
The only other marginalia of note appears on the title page, recto and verso. At the bottom of the title page recto is another note from Morris Robinson that refers back to his family history. William Robinson of Brignal, the original purchaser of the estate of Rokeby, is mentioned in lines 149-172. Here Morris Robinson refers back to his ancestor refusing to be knighted, apparently a rather remarkable occurrence. His remark is tantalizing but unfortunately not enlightening: "on the back of a paper (?) / (?) (compensation?) for refusing being / knighted."
At the top of this page, above the book title, is what appears to be a name, unfortunately cut off in the process of rebinding the book. On the verso is another name, complete but very faded. The script is very calligraphic but difficult to read. My best guess for now is "??itte ??nyne" or "nywe." Feedback or suggestions on deciphering this would be very much appreciated.
