Resolution
Eventually, students and administrators were able to make progress with their negotiations, and in September 1970, the University issued an official response to the demands, listing the progress that had been made or was expected on a number of them. Some responses took longer than others, but some of the most far-reaching were the creation of the Black Studies Department (now called the African American and African Studies Department ), the Department of Women’s Studies, the Office of Minority Affairs, and the OSU Child Care Center. Further, students are now represented on the OSU Board of Trustees, the Ohio Board of Regents, and the University Senate (formerly the Faculty Council). |
