The Voting Record Sub-series contains nine cubic feet of records documenting Senator Glenn's votes on the various bills, resolutions, and amendments brought before the U.S. Senate during the years 1975 to 1998.  Also included are materials on Glenn's legislative initiatives and the legislative measures he sponsored or cosponsored during his four senate terms.  The sub-series is arranged by type of record into the six categories of senate roll call votes, senate record votes, legislative activities, sponsored and cosponsored bills, miscellaneous, and Congressional Record statements.

The four and one-half cubic feet of senate roll call votes comprises the largest category within the sub-series.  These records contain individual sheets compiled by the Senate Democratic Policy Committee and printed by the Government Printing Office on each vote cast in the U.S. Senate from January 1975 through December 1998.  The sheets are arranged by year in chronological order by vote number.  Information on the sheets includes a topic heading or title, the legislative bill number, a brief analysis, and listings of those senators voting yea or nay, along with a listing of those not voting on that particular bill.  Subject indexes for each year's votes are included with the sheets, which may be loose or in softbound editions for individual Congressional sessions.

The senate record votes comprise one-half cubic foot of small, softbound printed volumes compiled by the Senate Democratic Policy Committee.  The volumes contain brief descriptions of each vote taken in the U.S. Senate, along with handwritten notations as to how Senator Glenn voted on each particular bill or legislative measure.  Each volume contains the votes, arranged in chronological order by vote number, for an individual year and includes a subject index.  Located within the sub-series are volumes for the years 1975 through 1994, with the exception of the year 1989.

The legislative activities comprise one cubic foot of softbound volumes for the years 1977 through 1998 (95th through 105th Congresses) prepared by the Senate Computer Center.  Each volume generally covers an individual two-year congress and contains listings and information on the bills sponsored or cosponsored by Senator Glenn during that particular congress.  The volumes list the bills in chronological order by number, and include separate sections listing bills, resolutions, and amendments.  A subject index also is included in each volume.

The sponsored and cosponsored files contain one cubic foot of materials prepared by various members of Senator Glenn's staff pertaining to the legislative measures sponsored or cosponsored by Senator Glenn.   These materials are not complete for all the twenty-four years Glenn served in the U.S. Senate, but do include listings of his sponsored and cosponsored legislation from 1977 through 1986 and from 1989 through 1990.  Also included are digests with useful information on the legislative history of Glenn's sponsored and cosponsored bills dating from 1975 through 1982.  Additional files contain printed copies of the legislation Glenn sponsored or cosponsored from 1991 through 1994.

Included in the one cubic foot of miscellaneous files is information on Senator Glenn's attendance record for roll call votes dating from 1975 through 1985.  Other files contain information on his voting record as judged by various interest groups.  Also included are issue indexes to Glenn's senate votes dating from 1979 through 1991.  Dating from Glenn's 1980 re-election campaign are files providing information on "The Glenn Record" for legislation pertaining to various policy areas.  Additional files provide further information on his legislative record during the 1980s and 1990s for various policy areas from agriculture to welfare.

Included with the voting record is one cubic foot of materials pertaining to Senator Glenn's floor statements as printed in the Congressional Record.  The sub-series does not provide a complete record of all of Senator Glenn's floor statements made during his senate career.  Files are included containing copies of his floor statements for the years 1975 through 1982.  There are no files for the years 1983 through 1993 and for the year 1998, while the files for the years 1994 through 1997 are incomplete.  The sub-series does include chronological listings containing summaries of his remarks, along with Congressional Record volume and page numbers, for the years 1977 through 1990.
